new to the swede-pop scene: zhala
Robyn started Konichia Records back in 2005 when her record label Jive Records was giving her a hard time for experimenting with a new pop-synth sound (which is now her signature sound and is un-fkn-real, obvi). Being the amazing independent woman she is, she decided to ditch Jive and start her own label. She was re-born! Now exists the Robyn we all know and love!
For the longest time she was the only artist on her label, because she wanted to focus on her own music, and didn’t want to govern the way other artists create (like the Jive jerks). But after nine years she has finally decided to bring on a new artist, named Zhala. I have a feeling her management relationship with this new artist signed will be pretty liberal, with lots of room for creative experimentation.
Here is an excerpt from Robyn’s website about Zhala:
Check out Zhala’s single, “Slippin Around”.
I totally trust Robyn’s taste and am excited to see what Zhala brings to the pop scene. What do you guys think?
